[ARCHIVED] IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MORRIS COUNTY PRIMARY ELECTION VOTERS

MORRIS COUNTY PRIMARY ELECTION VOTERS letter they will receive with their Primary Election Vote-by-Mail Ballot: 

Dear Voter,

In light of the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Governor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 144 on May 15, 2020 which requires the County Clerk to send all Democratic and Republican registered voters a Vote-by-Mail Ballot for the upcoming July 7, 2020 Primary Election.

Enclosed please find your Primary Election Vote-by-Mail Ballot. For the purpose of the certification that you must sign stating that you applied for this ballot, please be advised that Executive Order No. 144 acts as your application.

If you want to participate in the Primary Election, please use the enclosed Vote-by-Mail Ballot. A limited number of Polling Places will be available for voters on Election Day where only Provisional Paper Ballots will be available to cast your vote. If you have a disability and need an accessible ballot, please contact the Morris County Clerk’s Office at (973) 285-6066 or you may go to your assigned polling place which will provide access to an in person accessible voting device on Primary Election Day.

As per Executive Order No. 144, our office has provided a postage paid envelope for the return of your ballot. You are not required to attach a stamp. You may also choose to deposit your ballot in a secure drop box located throughout the county that has daily pick up. Please contact your Board of Elections at (973) 285-6715 for convenient locations.

We have included detailed instructions on how you must complete your Vote-by-Mail Ballot. Please return your ballot as soon as possible. Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked no later than 8:00 pm on July 7, 2020. The deadline for delivering your ballot in-person to the Morris County Board of Elections or placing it in one of the secure drop boxes is 8:00 pm on July 7, 2020.

Urgent Notice to Voters Living in Morris Township

The United States Post Office has notified the County Clerk’s Office that a mail delivery truck caught on fire on Saturday, June 20, 2020, while delivering mail and that Vote by Mail ballots to be delivered may possibly have been in the truck. Any registered Democrat or Republican voter who may reside at these addresses and did not receive a Vote by Mail Ballot or an Unaffiliated voter who did not receive a Vote by Mail Application is urged to contact our office immediately at 973-285-6066.

July 7, 2020 Primary Election – Frequently Asked Questions

On May 15, 2020, Governor Murphy signed Executive Order #144 stating that the July 7th Primary Election will be conducted primarily by Vote by Mail, with limited in person polling locations open on Primary Election Day. VBM will be new to many Morris County residents and the process itself is being adapted for activation at scale in light of the health crisis. It is important for our voters to understand how the new process will work so we can be sure our votes are valid under the new rules.

Polling Place List & Vote by Mail Ballot Drop Box Locations

As a result of the Governor’s Executive Order #144, the Board of Elections will be operating a limited number of polling places for the Primary Election on Tuesday, July 7th. Please see their list of certified polling locations for more information.

Vote by Mail Ballot drop boxes will be available in 5 convenient locations throughout Morris County for voters who would like to utilize them instead of returning their postage paid ballots through the mail. More information about the VBM Ballot drop boxes can be found here.
