NJ has introduced a new Property Tax Relief program called Stay NJ, which provides eligible homeowners with a reimbursement of up to 50% of total property taxes billed (maximum benefit: $13,000), minus any payments received through the Anchor and Senior Freeze programs. 📌 2024 Benefit Cap: $6,500
Eligibility Requirements:
- ✔ Age 65 or older in 2024
- ✔ New Jersey resident homeowner for the entire year of 2024
- ✔ 2024 income must be less than $500,000
Application Process:
📬 Automatic Application: If you are 65+ and have been receiving the Anchor or Senior Freeze benefits, the state will automatically send you a Stay NJ application (all three programs will now be combined on one application).
📅 Application Mailing: The State of NJ will mail applications in February.
📍 Where to Get an Application:
- If you do not receive an application automatically, extra copies will be available in the Tax Office, estimated time: March.
