  • The law requires everyone who plans to dig, be it for a new utility service or simply to plant a tree or set a new mailbox, to call for a mark-out of the utilities in the area where they proposed to dig. The public utility companies use a color coded system for identifying the type of service located underground. Learn what colors you can expect to see when a mark-out of utilities is made near your property.
