Chief Care E Hyde


Chief Carl E. Hyde became the fourth chief of police for Morris Township Police Department on March 7, 1981. Prior to his appointment, Chief Hyde served as the Division Commander of the department's Detective Bureau. During his tenure as chief, he is credited with the expansion of police headquarters to its present day size. He also was responsible for the introduction of our second generation data records management system in 1984. It was under his office, that the department organized a Crime Prevention Unit and Traffic Safety Unit. Chief Hyde retired on October 1, 1984 after serving the township for 27 years.
