Dennis Reilly


Dennis ReillyOur tenth chief of police, Dennis Reilly, was appointed chief of police on January 1, 2011. Chief Reilly joined the Morris Township Police Department on August 17, 1987. In addition to his duties as a patrol officer, he served as a communications officer, a field training officer for recruit personnel, and completed various temporary assignments with the detective bureau. Chief Reilly was promoted to sergeant on August 16, 1995. As a sergeant, Dennis was assigned as a patrol supervisor and also served as a police instructor in-house and at the Morris County Police Academy. Chief Reilly is qualified as a CPR instructor, a firearms instructor, and as an arrest search and seizure instructor. In 2010, Dennis was selected to attend the FBI National Academy, a 10 week executive leadership training program in Quantico, VA. He was also a graduate of from and instructor for the NJ State Association of Chiefs Police Command and Leadership Academy. In 2011, Chief Reilly merged our communications system with the Morris County Communications Center. Dennis also developed they agency's first Special Enforcement Bureau to combat street crimes. Chief Reilly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from St Bonaventure University and a Master of Arts degree in Education from Seton Hall University. He has been awarded 26 departmental commendations.
