Transportation Advisory Committee

The Mayor and Township Committee are pleased to announce that Morris Township has adopted an ordinance creating a Transportation Advisory Committee. This committee will be comprised of two (2) members of the Township Committee, seven (7) citizen volunteers and several Township professionals from the Engineering, Police, Parks and Recreation, and Administration Departments.

The Transportation Advisory Committee’s primary purpose is to explore, study, and make advisory recommendations to the Township Committee on ways to improve travel, circulation and transportation modes to include walking, biking, driving, and parking in Morris Township. In making recommendations, the Transportation Advisory Committee will consider factors such as safety, convenience, accessibility and connectivity within Morris Township and surrounding entities.

Morris Township is proud to become one of the first municipalities in the State of New Jersey to create a citizen advisory committee for the purpose of making recommendations on transportation-related matters which include traffic flow, sidewalks, bike lanes, public transportation, hiking trails, alternative transportation programs and special transportation needs of seniors, disabled, youth and persons of limited income.

Mayor Jeff Grayzel stated, "I would like to get people out of their cars and onto their feet and bicycles so that they can walk or bike into town and to various recreational facilities. This will also get cars off our roads resulting in less vehicle volume and less pollution."

Morris Township is looking for volunteers to join this new committee. Any resident who feel they have the time, expertise and interest in being on the Transportation Advisory Committee may contact Township Administrator Timothy Quinn, tquinn@morristwp.com or 973-326-7360, for further details.
