There are two separate large item pick-ups scheduled at different times of the month:

1. Large Trash Pick-Up
2. Large Metal & Appliance Pick-Up

Please be sure to request the appropriate pick-up based on your items. If you have both types of items, you will need to complete a request form for each pick-up.

All large items, i.e. mattresses, box springs, rugs, large glass doors, etc... will be collected on a designated Friday, please see below*.  To request an appointment either call the DPW at 973-326-7398 or submit an online request. If you have a large metal or appliance item, please view information /request here. 

Online Request Form / All requests must be made one (1) week or more prior to scheduled collection.  All requests will be processed in the order they are received. The Department of Public Works shall make every attempt to accommodate all resident requests. In the event of a question or if a request cannot be accommodated, you will receive either a phone call or email from our office with an explanation.

The items will be collected by a separate vehicle. Please follow all guidelines outlined here:

1. Wrap large glass doors with cardboard and tape
2. Rugs should be cut, rolled, and tied in a roll not exceeding 50 pounds
3. Mattresses and Box springs must be wrapped in plastic prior to placing out for disposal
4. Items should not be more than four (4) feet in length
5. If you are moving, please notify us well in advance

*Large Trash Item Collection will take place on a designated Friday of each month. The designated Friday is determined by your normally scheduled pick-up day for Trash Collection. 

Your regularly scheduled Trash Collection day has a designation. If your Trash Collection is scheduled for Mondays, you are “Area 1”; Tuesdays, “Area 2”; Wednesdays, “Area 3”, and Thursdays, “Area 4”. 

Large Trash Item Collection for Area 1 is the first Friday of the month; Area 2 is the second Friday of the month; Area 3 is the third Friday of the month, and Area 4 is the last Friday of the month.
