Smoke Detectors

Purpose

The Smoke Detector Program is for all township residents but particularly those residents that are senior citizens, handicapped, or in need of special assistance. * Please Note: this program is not available to residents selling their homes

This program distributes free battery smoke detectors to township residents. The program is provided through a State Division of Fire Safety Grant, and The Firemen's Mutual Benevolent Association #70 of Morris Township is a co-sponsor of the program.

This program works in conjunction with the Fire Department Emergency Evacuation Assistance Program.

Installing the Devices

The Fire Department will provide and install battery smoke detectors on each level of your home.

Residents that need our assistance in the installation of battery smoke detectors can call the Fire Department at 973-326-7435. This service is provided seven days a week, during both day and evening hours.

Staying up on Batteries

If you take part in the Fire Department's Smoke Detector Program, the Fire Department will return each year to change the batteries. Batteries will be provided by the Fire Department.
