FAQs
- Residents are responsible for the
maintenance of sewer lines from the house to
the mainline in the street or
easement.
- If you experience a sewer problem outside of our listed hours, we have an on-call person available 24/7 including holidays. To reach our on-call person, please call the Police Department non-emergency number at (973) 326-7459.
- Garbage disposals are prohibited due to the excessive load they put on the treatment system. Just dispose of wet wastes in your regular garbage or compost them for your garden.
- Sump pumps should never be connected to the sewer system. Run them into the street storm drain or your backyard, downhill side.
- Grease must never be poured down the drain. This causes home plumbing headaches for you as well as main line clogs in the sewer system.
- Pesticides must be disposed of at the County. Pouring them down the drain kills the live bacteria used to treat the water.
- We offer tours, year round during work hours. If you are interested in scheduling a tour, please call us.

Goals and Objectives
- Goal: To efficiently and economically
produce clean, environmentally safe water,
which is constantly better than discharge
limits set by the NJDEP in an effort to
maintain the integrity of the receiving water
courses used for widespread human
activities.
- Objective: To provide a means of
transporting potentially dangerous and
offensive wastes from residential homes and
industry to a central treatment location
while at the same time maintaining the health
and well being of the community.
