Please Note:

If your garbage and recycling pickup falls on NEW YEARS DAY, INDEPENDENCE DAY(July 4), THANKSGIVING or CHRISTMAS DAY it will be picked up the following SATURDAY.

If your garbage and recycling pickup falls on the following holidays, GARBAGE ONLY will be picked up the following TUESDAY:
  • Memorial Day, Monday May 26
  • Labor Day, Monday September 1
All collection services may be suspended during ice and snow storms or hurricanes. If this occurs on your scheduled pick-up day, GARBAGE AND RECYCLABLES will be collected the following SATURDAY.

Please keep the area where garbage and recycling are placed clear for safe footing.

GARBAGE COLLECTION

  1. Garbage is picked up weekly. See street list schedule for your day.
  2. Receptacles shall be placed at the curb beginning at dusk of the night preceding the scheduled collection day. Receptacles shall be removed from the curb by 6:00 p.m. of the evening of collection day.
  3. Placed at curbside no later than 6 a.m. of scheduled day (Memorial Day to Labor Day: 5:30 a.m.)
  4. Six (6) item limit. Please call 326-7398 for large or extra items.
  5. Wrap large glass doors with cardboard and tape. Rugs should be cut, rolled and tied (50 pound limit/roll). If moving, please notify us well in advance.
  6. Items not to be more than four (4) feet in length
  7. Standard 32 gallon garbage cans only with lids/handles or plastic bags (50 pound limit per container). Examples of conforming and non-conforming receptacles
  8. NO construction materials
  9. NO household hazardous waste
  10. LATEX PAINT - MUST be dried out in cans before disposal. Cat litter works well.
  11. Animal feces should be placed in paper bags before being put in the garbage

RECYCLING

  1. Picked up weekly. See street list schedule for your day.
  2. Placed at curbside no later than 6 a.m. of scheduled day (Memorial Day to Labor Day: 5:30 a.m.)
  3. Newspaper (Including Inserts): Tied in bundles with string (50 pound limit per bundle). For your convenience, the Township has available "Stak-N-Tie" organizers which facilitate tying newspapers into bundles. These can be purchased for $10.00 at DPW or the Municipal Building.
  4. Magazines/Junk Mail: Tied in bundles or put in paper shopping bags. Bundles and bags can be put into standard trash can with lid appropriately marked. Include junk mail with magazines. NO hard cover or telephone books.
  5. Corrugated Cardboard/Chipboard/Brown Shopping Bags: (Chipboard includes cereal boxes, shoe boxes and the like) Break down and tied the same as newspaper.
  6. Glass food jars / Beverage bottles / Aluminum beverage cans / Steel cans / Food & Beverage plastic soda, milk and water bottles: Rinse and place in a weatherproof container (standard 32 gallon type garbage can with lid and handles). Fifty (50) pound limit per container. No plastic or paper bags to be used as containers.
  7. Recycling drop-off center located at DPW. All recyclables accepted including motor oil Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WOOD CHIPPING

  1. Service provided weekly by call to 973-326-7398
  2. Branches up to four (4) inches in diameter
  3. No dirt, logs, roots or stumps
  4. This service will not be available during the leaf collection season; please call after December 13, 2008 to schedule woodchipping.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE

  1. The County of Morris annually provides a program for the safe disposal of hazardous waste such as oil base paints, paint thinners, gasoline, herbicides, pesticides, acids, car batteries, propane tanks, etc. They also have a Household Hazardous Waste Facility located in Mount Olive which is open to County residents.To schedule an appointment, call the Morris County Municipal Utility Authority (MUA) at 973-829-8006. The facility is open on select Tuesdays and Fridays (9 to 11 AM) and Saturdays (8 to 11 AM). Drop-off events are held periodically at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, 500 West Hanover Ave., Parsippany.
  2. If you're a diabetic or a person taking medication by injection, DO NOT THROW OUT YOUR USED SYRINGES They are not accepted at the County Transfer Station and cannot be recycled. To protect the safety of your sanitation and recycling workers, please register for the Safe Syringe Disposal Program at Morristown Memorial Hospital. The program is FREE. LEAVES & GRASS (FALL ONLY)


In order to comply with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Storm Water Regulations, please adhere to the following;
  • Service provided from October 14 to December 13. We cannot predict a specific collection day for your street.
  • Leaves, grass clippings and plant waste are to be placed in neat piles at the curb for collection.
  • Do not place piles on pavement or less than ten (10) feet from any stormdrain.
  • No brush in piles of leaves, please.
  • During this period only, residents may bring light brush to the Department of Public Works Site on Jane Way.
  • Do not place light brush out with regular garbage.
  • Pick ups are by sector. Find your street in Sector 1, Sector 2 or Sector 3.

LARGE METAL ITEMS AND APPLIANCES

  1. Includes appliances, yard sheds, swing sets, tire rims, etc

CURBSIDE CONTAINER COLLECTION OF LEAVES, GRASS, BRUSH

FALL information, click here)

  1. Pick up is by zone on Wednesdays only. Find your street in Zone 1 or Zone 2.
  2. Service for 2008 will be provided every other Wednesday beginning March 19 in Zone 1 and March 26 in Zone 2 and ending October 1 in Zone 1 and October 8 in Zone 2
  3. Place items at curb by 6 a.m. of scheduled day in standard garbage can with lid and handles. You may tie brush with string in bundles no longer than 4 feet.
  4. Cut brush to height of garbage cans
  5. No plastic bags
  6. Fifty (50) pound limit per can or bundle
  7. Spring and Summer ONLY: Brush too small for chipping, grass clippings, leaves and plant waste may be mixed
  8. No dirt, logs, roots or stumps
  9. Residents only (no contractors) may drop off brush too small for chipping, grass clippings, leaves and plant waste only to the Department of Public Works during normal business hours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesdays please call prior to visiting our yard. Our vehicles are being used for CURBSIDE CONTAINER COLLECTION OF LEAVES, GRASS, AND BRUSH and may not be available in the yard day. Plastic bags may be used to transport items to DPW yard. All items must be taken out of all plastic bags and containers when disposed of at DPW yard.
